Yuba, now streaming, is the first single off of Richard Gans’ upcoming, debut release, Before the Poppies Bloom. Gans carries on the torch of the great prophets of the American Highway, transforming two lanes and open country into the mythic realm where the soul seeks all the salvation a rumbling engine can offer. Townes Van Zandt spent his later years singing Bruce Springsteen’s Racing in the Streets - Gans worships at the same altars with an honest voice that speaks to the hardships of life and gives voice to the patient faith that is required to make the long journey back to the place that you really wanted to go.
Richard Gans, on rhythm guitar and harmonica, is joined by Antonio Romero on piano, Red McAdam on upright bass, and Bailey Warren on lead guitar and harmony. It’s a raw, live take recorded with engineer Max Harms at The Garage in Camp Verde, Arizona. Additional tracks on the record also feature Nate “Quickdraw” Cutshall on Harmonica, Max Harms on harmonies, and Paige Anderson and Emilie Rose of Two Runner on harmonies.
The album was mixed and recorded by Max Harms and mastered by Kaushlesh “Garry” Purohit. Photography and album artwork by Jenna Marks.
